Local Spot Light: 8UP Elevated Drinkery and Kitchen

January 7, 2015

Before their grand opening, 8UP put a call out on social media for all of Louisville to come to their soft opening.  Advertising free food at a new local restaurant in Louisville is like the sound of a can being opened in a cat ladies house... hectic doesn't even begin to describe it.  The response from the city was swift and in a few hours all available reservations were full.  However, I was lucky enough to snag a spot at the lounge where their small bites menu was available for tasting.

I sampled the Bratwurst Po Boy ($9) complete with pretzel bun, creamy mustard, and chow chow.  The Veal Meatballs ($11) and the Goat Cheese Pizza ($14) topped with smokey bacon and melted leeks.  The bratwurst was crisp on the outside and the bread soft enough so tearing could be easily done.  The meatballs were delicious, how could they not be?  It’s veal!  The pizza however was a wonderful delight.  The dough was chewy with a slight crunch on the bottom.  The toppings were wonderfully paired and complimented the other flavors without overriding one another.

The space itself is gorgeous and boasts a 90 seat restaurant with 8 foot picture windows and a separate board room with retractable walls for an extra 50 seated guests or 75+ standing reception.  The bar area is also encased in the same gorgeous views and an open kitchen serving up a delicious menu.  At one point I turned around and could see the fireworks from the bats stadium going off.  Not only do you have an optimal view of downtown from the inside, but 8UP also offers a wonderful rooftop space (with fire pits).  Their garden room also has glass doors that can be completely opened to allow the outdoors in, and can accommodate anywhere from 25-35 guests.

Not only does 8UP offer access to a beautiful rooftop with sprawling downtown views.  But it also offers full private event access to the historic Henry Clay building.  Both spaces are incredibly beautiful and can fit any kind of event you have in mind.  Their breathtaking  beauty and architecture offers a variety of historic and contemporary looks that can suit any taste.  If you would like further information about booking an event please feel free to contact us!
